love it! my bike is yellow and this tota
love it! my bike is yellow and this totally matches the color of my bike !! i would get a red one for my fixie but i wish i had money haha
The sideways straps could be a little weird but they lay on the side of my face perfectly and it fits perfectly. Breathable and light, and it adjusts well. Good buy!
As far as I can tell, this is the lightest helmet in its price range, and it really looks great. If it happens to fit you comfortably, this is a bargain. In my case, my head is large, but theoretically within the size range this helmet claims to fit (it comes in only one size). However, it did not fit well. I could get it on my head, but it hurt. It went straight back in the box and back to Amazon. I would also add that I agree with all of the complaints of other reviewers about the straps twisting sideways. Even if it fits your head OK, that might be enough of an annoyance not to bother.
For the price, this is a good helmet. Without a doubt. Tons of reviews have covered this, I'm sure. But I'm here to dissuade you from getting it... maybe. If $30-$50 is all you have to spend, then ignore this review. If you don't really push yourself during a ride/ride very casually then ignore this review. This helmet will keep you safe. At the end of the day, that's what it's for. But if you can spend more and are/want to be serious about biking you'll really want to spend more for something else. The real problem with this helmet (and most in this price range) is that although it has a ratcheting support system the straps haven't been designed in a way that makes the helmet stable. You end up with twisted chin straps no matter what you do, and so you have to tighten them quite a bit to stabilize it. There's no way to change the height/angle of the straps without twisting them even more, so you'll have to rely on pressure from the rear restraint and a tight chinstrap. Obviously, this really mitigates comfort. Moreover, while the venting is good... you won't want this on your head for 3 hours on a 90 degree day. You will be sweating buckets. Once you start sweating buckets, the shape of the helmet basically forces all of it down your forehead and into your eyes. Not good. Although perhaps if you have very short hair, this last point won't be a problem for you.So I bought this helmet. Rode with it some 450 miles. But then I tried some higher end Giro models. I have to say... the difference is remarkable enough to justify paying quite a bit more. The Atmos, for instance, lets you fine tune the fit in three directions so that the helmet is almsot stable enough to be worn without the chin straps (obviously don't do this). The venting and weight reductions are so significant you'll forget you have it on your head even after a tough climb (not even kidding). Although I ended up going with a Kask K50, the fact still remains that the ventilation and comfort gains from a higher end helmet are so mindblowingly significant over a $30-$50 model like this one that if you plan to ride even somewhat regularly (as exercise) you should go get something in the $100-$125+ range. Given that a good helmet will last years, you can think of a good helmet as an investment. Do yourself a favor and don't be cheap. You'll thank me 30 miles into your next century.
It figures, right? You purchase a new helmet, adjust it, and get going. I go out for my tour, enjoying my ride, and head on home. As I'm cruising on home, and am a mere block away, my brakes fail, and I hit a curb going around 15-16mph. I went over the bars, fracturing a rib. The helmet got scuffed up and scratched... but no damage to the noggin whatsoever. When it comes to safety while riding, Giro is absolutely the way to go... This may be an "entry level" helmet price point, but it protects your head like a top level helmet.
The Giro is great. Feels very light and you forget you're wearing it after a few minutes of riding. The only issue that I have are the straps - any way you try to align them under your chin, at least one tends to be slightly twisted which creates some discomfort. It is not a deal-breaker for me. Rather wear a helmet than not. Also, some problems are to be expected if you don't want to spend close to $100 for the pro-style helmets.
I have a big-ish, Caucasian-oval head, and this helmet felt like it was pushing into my superior occiput, even with the retention system at max expansion. Very uncomfortable. My girlfriend, who has an Asian-round type head, kind of medium-large, also thought this helmet was very uncomfortable. It's a great looking helmet though, if it fits you.On the other hand, the Bell Ukon Sport Helmet fits her and I great!
pretty much a great helm for the price. fits nice, cools your head. after my frist 2 hour ride with it I forgot i had it on the first 10 mins
