I actually landed directly on my head against a rock. Without this helmet I would be dead. I looked over the helmet after I healed and only noticed one spot that cracked through, so I am absolutely going to buy a replacement. This helmet is pretty nice looking and solid for the price. I'm sure that it's a pretty sturdy helmet that actually works because I read an Amazon review from someone that was hit by a car and had his head slammed against a curb (or something along those lines) and only suffered a concussion. He said the helmet was cracked and that doctors couldn't believe that he didn't crack his skull due to the hard impact. That review gave me confidence when buying this helmet so I suggest you go find that review and read it yourself! Bought the helmet about 2 weeks after getting my new mountain bike. First and far most the helmet is uncomfortable it pinched my head from the top there's no padding there. I read some other reviews seems giro is notorious for that they fail to put padding at the top I returned it immediately. For short rides im sure its fine but I ride for hours and I don't want to be uncomfortable the whole way instead I went with the bell variant a lot more padding and supposed to be great on safety. The helmet fits great. I purchased the universal adult size. Very comfortable. Plenty of vents to cool of your head, but I was still very sweaty under there. Good price and very good equipment. This is a very nice bicycle helmet from Giro. I really like the fit. The dial system inside the helmet makes adjusting the fit very easy and allows for a very comfortable fit. That is a great idea for bicycle helmets.I also like the colors (black, silver, and red) that I chose. The visor is nice. I plan to attach a helmet mirror to the visor with a clip, so it is a good feature for the helmet. The helmet looks nice too.The only minor complaint is that the straps on the helmet don't want to lay flat on the side of my face where they come down to connect below the chin. The straps seem to have an awkward release at the bottom of the helmet or something, and there is a sort of "twist" to the straps. It took a bit of adjusting the various lengths and plastic components to get a strap position that is not irritating, but overall it is not a major concern, just an annoyance to overcome. (Although, I did buy a Schwinn helmet for a family member, and those straps are really comfortable, so that might be worth looking into).The helmet is a 4 star for the look, comfortable overall fit, and general design with the visor and colors. The straps bring it down from the glory of 5 stars though. Straps shouldn't be that difficult to design. . . My husband and I both bought Giro Indicator bike helmets. We first saw them in a sporting goods store, but they were much more expensive. Amazon offered the best price we could find online. The helmet itself is light weight and vented exceptionally well. There is an adjustable strap and additional pads that come with the helmet to make it fit each person's head comfortably. Another nice feature of this helmet is the sun visor. I never thought it would make a difference in my line of vision, but it does. I would never buy another bike helmet without that feature. I also wanted a white helmet and this mfg. is one of the only ones at this price point that offers it. Very satisfied and now I feel much safer riding my bike. Took it out of the box, first thing I noticed was that the reviews about the twist in the chin straps were right, very uncomfortable!I played with it for about 15 minutes trying to get a good fit to no avail. I took it off, and then I found the reason to return it immediately.Do a google search on when to switch helmets, it is when there are flat spots, scratches or cracks in the helmet.Mind you, my current helmet had scratches, that is why I was replacing it after two years, but this one was brand new and had dents and scratches straight from the factory! This is not a cosmetic issue, when you get a new helmet it should be PERFECT! Fits well (adjustable size). I have a pretty large head, and it fits great. Works with ponytail. Visor is nice, but I wish it could be moved up/down. Lightweight. Good colors.
